Baked Garlic Parmesan Shrimp

  • Author: Dinah A.

Description

There’s something magical about the scent of garlic and butter swirling through a warm kitchen on a chilly evening. I remember the first time I made baked garlic parmesan shrimp—it was a rainy Sunday, and my kids were curled up on the couch with blankets and books. I needed something fast, cozy, and comforting that still felt a bit indulgent. That’s when this dish became our little family tradition.

Baked garlic parmesan shrimp is one of those recipes that feels both effortless and fancy. It’s quick enough for a weeknight but elegant enough to serve at dinner parties or holiday gatherings. Inspired by Italian-American flavors, it combines tender shrimp with rich garlic, a hint of lemon, and the irresistible crisp of melted parmesan. You can serve it over pasta, spoon it onto toasted bread, or enjoy it straight from the baking dish.

This dish reminds me of coastal towns where seafood is always fresh and flavorful, where people gather around rustic wooden tables with laughter, lemon wedges, and glasses clinking. Whether you’re craving something easy or planning a special dinner, this shrimp dish delivers warmth and flavor in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) large raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  • STEP 1: PREHEAT THE OVEN
  • Set your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking dish or sheet pan with olive oil or non-stick spray.
  • STEP 2: PREPARE THE SHRIMP
  • Place the shrimp in a mixing bowl. Add olive oil, minced garlic, paprika, oregano, salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes if using. Squeeze in the lemon juice and toss everything together until the shrimp are well coated.
  • STEP 3: LAYER IN THE BAKING DISH
  • Spread the shrimp evenly in your prepared dish in a single layer. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese generously over the top.
  • STEP 4: BAKE TO PERFECTION
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes, or until the shrimp are pink, opaque, and the cheese has started to brown slightly. For an extra golden crust, broil for an additional 1–2 minutes at the end—but watch carefully.
  • STEP 5: GARNISH & SERVE
  • Remove from the oven and sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley. Serve immediately with lemon wedges and your favorite side.

Notes

  • Add more garlic if you love a stronger flavor.
  • For a low-carb version, serve with sautéed zucchini noodles or cauliflower rice.
  • Make it dairy-free by omitting the cheese and adding a sprinkle of nutritional yeast or garlic breadcrumbs instead.
