Churro French Toast

  • Author: Ada L.
  • Yield: 6 slices 1x

Description

Few breakfasts feel as joyful and nostalgic as Churro French Toast. It’s the kind of dish that turns an ordinary morning into something special, filling the kitchen with the scent of warm cinnamon and sugar that instantly pulls everyone out of bed. This recipe was inspired by childhood trips to street fairs and family vacations, where churros were always wrapped in paper, still warm, and shared before they could cool. That first bite, crisp on the outside and soft in the center, is a memory many of us carry.

This Churro French Toast brings that same experience home, blending the comfort of classic French toast with the irresistible crunch and sweetness of a churro. It’s perfect for cozy weekends, holiday mornings, or anytime you want breakfast to feel like a celebration. Simple ingredients, familiar flavors, and a little love at the stove make this a dish that feels both comforting and indulgent.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 slices thick bread (brioche or Texas toast)

  • 3 large eggs

  • 3/4 cup milk

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 2 tablespoons sugar

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for coating)

  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and sugar. Dip each slice of bread into the mixture, letting it soak just long enough to absorb the custard without becoming soggy.

Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt butter until it begins to foam. Cook the soaked bread slices until golden brown on each side, about 2–3 minutes per side. The surface should be crisp while the inside stays soft and tender.

In a separate shallow dish, mix the granulated sugar and cinnamon. While the French toast is still warm, gently press each slice into the cinnamon-sugar mixture, coating both sides evenly. Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

For extra indulgence, serve with fresh berries or a drizzle of honey. This recipe can easily be doubled for a crowd.
